General Information:  Miniature donkeys are native to the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardina.  The characteristic that stands out the most for these animals is without a doubt their loving personalities.  These donkeys are very tame and gentle and make great pets.  The most common color is grey-dun with many variations.  Males are referred to as Jacks and females are referred to as Jennets.  An average height for these animals would be somewhere from 33  to 34 inches.  Miniature donkeys are very healthy animals and require the same vaccinations and hoof care as equine.  A well cared for miniature donkey has a life expectancy around 25 to 40 years.
